Gold coast Fishing report July-August 2018
Cool mornings with light westerly winds have seen great conditions for offshore fishing out of the Gold coast. The weather has been absolutely sensational and the fishing has been even better. Snapper have been around in good numbers on both the 36 and 50 fathom reefs, and the past couple of weeks has seen some big Snodgers moving on to the closer 18 and 24 fathom grounds. Most of the bigger specimens have been taken on lightly weighted pilchards with a few also taken on paternoster rigs, we have caught several over 80cm with the biggest measuring a whopping 97cm and weighing in at over 10kg. Teraglin and Tailor have also been caught in big numbers on local reefs, particularly around the full moon. The past month has also seen several large Cobia captured on both live and dead baits and also a 25kg Mulloway taken in 39 metres of water on a live yakka. Tuna have also been thick, mainly Macks, but there has also been a few Big eye mixed in with them. Great weather looks set to continue, so why not book a charter and get amongst the action.
